Abstract

The article reveals the essence of the concept of autobiographical memory (AP) as a specific mnemonic system, which differs significantly in people of different ages and genders, depending on individual life experiences and “life scenarios”. AP is defined as one’s own idea of general or special events and facts of the past segment of life. Research AP reveals structural and functional patterns not inherent in other types of memory, and gain new fundamental knowledge for psychological science, which helps to answer the question of the universality of those laws of memory, which until now were considered common to all mnemonic processes personalities associated with life events. The concept of “cultural life scenario” makes it possible to understand that the scenario of the personal past is amplified in the process of ontogenetic development and socialization of the child. However, most of the significant events that an adult mention when presenting the story of his life are included in the content of a typical life scenario. The problem of studying AP is at the intersection of the study of personality and memory and allows you to find new perspectives on their study. AP is the basis of selfconsciousness of the individual, and its patterns are associated not only with motivational-semantic, emotional processes and cognitive processes, but also with life scenarios. The analysis proved that AP has specific functions and patterns inherent only in this type of memory, subjective reflection of the segment of life passed by man, actualization of autobiographical significant events and states that determine the identity of the individual. The article considers the types of life scenarios and provides an analysis of its role in the development of autobiographical tents for women and men of different ages, age and gender differences in the study of the characteristics of AP.
