PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS OF HELPING FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS AT A HIGHER MILITARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION TO GET THROUGH ADAPTATION PERIOD

Abstract

The article presents a detailed psychological and pedagogical analysis of the factors and mechanisms that ensure the successful completion of the adaptation period by first-year students of a higher military educational institution. It reveals the substantive features of the adaptation process of cadets, which is characterized by a combination of intensive professionally oriented training, inclusion in military-organizational structures, assimilation of statutory norms of behavior, and the need to quickly adapt to the conditions of strict regulation of life. It is emphasized that the complexity of psychophysiological requirements and the specificity of the military education environment significantly modify the adaptation process compared to civilian higher education institutions.The key determinants influencing the dynamics of adaptation processes have been identified, in particular, the motivational and value orientations of cadets, the peculiarities of their emotional and volitional self-regulation, the level of development of communication skills, the provision of social support, and the quality of pedagogical support from teachers, curators, and psychologists. Particular attention is paid to the role of individual psychological characteristics in the ability of first-year students to effectively overcome stress factors in the military environment.The directions of psychological and pedagogical support aimed at optimizing the adaptation process are substantiated, among which the formation of adaptive competencies, the development of stress resistance, the strengthening of internal motivation, the organization of systematic consultative work, and the introduction of training technologies are highlighted.The importance of mentoring programs, team-building practices, and measures aimed at preventing emotional exhaustion and supporting the mental well-being of cadets is emphasized.It is noted that the effectiveness of adaptation increases significantly when there is a comprehensive and coordinated system of psychological and pedagogical support that combines diagnostic, corrective-developmental, educational, and upbringing components. The importance of forming a cohesive cadet community, ensuring a positive socio-psychological climate, and developing mutual support and constructive interpersonal interaction is emphasized. The results obtained determine the prospects for improving the educational process in military higher educational institutions by increasing the effectiveness of the adaptation of first-year students and creating favorable conditions for their professional and personal development.
