PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS OF EMOTIONAL DEPENDENCE IN MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of psychological factors of emotional dependence in marital relations. Attention is focused on the identity of the concepts «addiction», «dependent behavior», «addiction», «addictive behavior» and one of the most common classifications of addiction is presented, among which the following types are distinguished: alcoholic, television, love, gaming, sexual, food, religious, labor, medical, computer, tobacco, dependence on a healthy lifestyle, narcotic. The article considers the phenomenon of emotional dependence as a form of dysfunctional emotional attachment, manifested in an excessive need for a partner, loss of personal autonomy and inability to maintain internal stability without external emotional support. The authors analyze the main manifestations of emotional dependence: an obsessive need for a partner, loss of autonomy, fear of losing a relationship, emotional instability and violation of personal boundaries. The psychological determinants of the formation of dependent behavior are revealed in detail: personal immaturity, traumatic childhood experience, type of attachment, cognitive attitudes, socio-cultural influences and existential vacuum. The article presents a step-by-step model of the emergence of emotional dependence in a relationship, which includes six main stages: emotional deficit, idealization of the partner and projection of expectations, deepening of emotional attachment, dependent behavior and emotional control, loss of autonomy and inner integrity, awareness of discomfort and inner struggle. The multifactorial nature of the phenomenon and the need for comprehensive psychological assistance to overcome it are emphasized. The publication is of practical importance for the development of means of prevention and correction of destructive forms of attachment in married couples, contributing to the development of emotional maturity of partners, preservation of their individuality and improvement of the quality of family life in general.
